Rivka From has been a Life, Executive, & Wellness Coach for
ten years. In 2004 Rivka was diagnosed with an aggressive
stage of breast cancer and its gene mutation. Both of her
daughters later tested positive for BRCA1. She and her
daughters share their experiences - with their message
being one of hope and enlightenment.

c) The Feminine Soul with Mrs. Chana Slavaticki
In depth, text-based exploration on the essence of the
Jewish Woman through the lens of Kabbalah.

d) Surfing through Stress with Merri Goldberg, LCSW, BCD
Understand what stress is and learn how to surf it. Learn
progressive relaxation and gain practical tips on stress
management.

Speakers

Rabbi Yitzchok Breitowitz
Rabbi Breitowitz received his Rabbinical Ordination from the Ner Israel Rabbinical College in 1976; B.S. with honors from Johns Hopkins University; J.D (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School in 1979; and a Doctorate in Talmudic Law from Ner Israel in 1992. He has lectured extensively throughout the US and Israel on medical, business, and family ethics. He has published numerous articles on bankruptcy, commercial law, medical ethics, family law, and halakha.In addition to being the Rav of the Woodside Synagogue, Rav Breitowitz is a Professor of Law at the University of Maryland. Rabbi Breitowitz and his wife will soon be fulfilling their lifelong dream of living in Israel. He will be sorely missed!!



Mrs. Chana Slavaticki 
Mrs. Chana Slavaticki has been a brilliant and inspiring educator and lecturer for over a decade. She is a graduate of Ohel Chana Women's college in Melbourne, Australia, and received a degree in education from Beit Chana in Tzfat, Israel.

 

Chana is a highly successful high school teacher and lectures to women of diverse backgrounds. She places special emphasis on teaching text based courses and clearly elucidating concepts especially relevant to the Jewish woman.
 
Chana is currently teaching at Yeshivat Rambam in Baltimore,Maryland. She also lectures at the Mercaz at Beth Tfiloh, The Women's Institute of Torah,and  Chabad centers in the Maryland and Greater Washington areas.

 

 

Merle (Merri) Cantor Goldberg

Merle (Merri) Cantor Goldberg is one of the country’s leading psychotherapists in the fields of bariatric surgery, and eating disorders. She has been in private practice in the Washington D.C. area for over 35 years and is also widely respected in the areas of group psychotherapy (author of The Human Circle, existential-analytic group psychotherapy), as well as work with individuals, couples and families from adolescents to geriatrics. In addition to her private practice she has served as a lecturer, consultant and trainer throughout the United States and in thirteen countries abroad including South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Merri is a diplomate in clinical social work, a director of the esteemed Moreno Institute of Psychodrama, serves on many boards and program committees and is a sought after lecturer at professional and lay conferences. Her new book Weight Loss Surgery: Is It Right For You has been chosen one of the top consumer books of 2006. Her most recent book is entitled My Thin Excuse: Understanding, Recognizing and Treating Eating Disorders. Her articles appear in numerous publications. Her varied background includes host of her own radio call in show, a newspaper column and a variety of media work.
These are some of Merri's professional qualifications but on a more personal level patients and colleagues would probably describe Merri in terms of not only her knowledge but also her commitment, energy, enthusiasm, caring and compassion.
 
Nationally known psychotherapist, consultant, trainer, lecturer, and author with expertise in the fields of bariatric surgery, eating disorders, obesity and weight control, and group psychotherapy. Diplomat in clinical social work and certified eating disorder professional. Experienced in program development, implementation, staff training, and ongoing patient treatment, in adolescent through geriatric populations, using individual, family and group modalities, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Internationally, Merri has served as a lecturer and trainer in thirteen countries.Author of three books and numerous articles on group psychotherapy, bariatric surgery and eating disorders. The Gene Girls 
Rivka From of To Life Coaching has been a Life, Executive, & Wellness Coach for the past ten years. In August 2004 Rivka was diagnosed with an aggressive stage of breast cancer and tested positive for the breast cancer gene mutation. While undergoing chemotherapy treatments she realized that the thoughts we think moment to moment, and the words that we speak create our reality and experiences in life. Today, Rivka is THRIVING after living through breast cancer and spends her days as a coach and speaker working with individuals and businesses in a perpetual quest to promote harmony of THOUGHT & VISION.

Carlye From, 25, is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina where she received a BA in Communication with a concentration in mass media. Carlye is recently engaged and will be getting married in Be’er Sheva, Israel next year.  She enjoys preparing Shabbat dinner every week for her family and friends.  She is also a proud member of The Gene Girls along with her mother and sister where they are a voice of hope and enlightenment to the community at large to raise awareness of genetic links to cancer and how to live and extraordinary life no matter what.

Courtney From Hirsch, 29, is the Director of The Annual Fund for Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Courtney is a graduate of The George Washington University in Washington DC with a BA in Human Services and Communications. She teaches a Rosh Hodesh class to 8th grade girls at her synagogue and is a new member of the Raleigh Cary Jewish Federation Board of Trustees.  She is thrilled to share that she is due with her first child at the end of April 2010.
