Q. I am not a member of Chabad Shul of Potomac. Can I still celebrate my child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Chabad?
A. Yes! No need to be a member to join in any service, program or ceremony at Chabad. You are always welcome!
Q. My family and I are not religious. I am afraid we will all feel uncomfortable in the Chabad Synagogue setting.
A. Chabad is all about embracing every single Jew regardless of background or religious level. Our congregation is comprised of a large spectrum of Jews ranging from Reform to Traditional to Conservative and everything in between. If you are Jewish, you belong! We don’t believe in labels, labels are for shirts only. We are confident that you and your family will feel comfortable and warmly accepted.
Q: I am concerned that my daughter will feel shortchanged if she cannot read directly from the Torah.
A. We have yet to have a Bat Mitzvah girl that has not felt special and in the limelight during her service. No one can testify more to this than those who have hosted their daughter’s Bat Mitzvah at Chabad. Read their testimonials below.
Q. What is the fee for hosting a Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Chabad?
A. There is a minimal fee that includes all tutoring sessions (for girls only) as well as the Bar/Bat Mitzvah service and building usage. Members fee: $450 Non Members fee: $900. (There is a separate fee for sponsoring the Kiddush Lunch should you choose that option).
